100% Solids Two-Component Clear Polyaspartic Floor Topcoat

Bond Craftor Clear Polyaspartic Floor Topcoat is a two-component, 100% solids coating that creates a clear, high-gloss protective finish. Designed for properly prepared concrete, epoxy, flake and metallic floors, it provides strong resistance to abrasion, impact, chemicals, UV exposure and yellowing—making it suitable for garages, patios, workshops, commercial spaces and other high-traffic areas.

Applying this clear polyaspartic topcoat is straightforward: combine Part A and Part B at a 1:1 ratio by weight, with approximately 30 minutes of working time at 77°F (25°C). The surface becomes touch-dry in about 5–7 hours and fully cures within 24–48 hours. One 2-gallon kit covers approximately 240–360 sq. ft. over flake floors or 400–500 sq. ft. over metallic floors, depending on surface condition and application thickness.

Beginner Installation Guide: 6 Common Mistakes to Avoid

Polyaspartic topcoat has a limited working time, so accurate measuring, proper surface preparation and efficient application are essential for achieving a smooth, durable finish.

1

Guessing the Mix Ratio

Measure Part A and Part B accurately at a 1:1 ratio by weight. Do not estimate the amounts or substitute a volume-based ratio.

2

Skipping Surface Preparation

Make sure the surface is clean, dry and structurally sound. Remove dust, oil, grease and loose material, and abrade cured coatings when required.

3

Applying the Coating Too Thickly

Spread the topcoat evenly within the recommended coverage range. Excessive thickness may increase heat buildup and affect curing or final appearance.

4

Applying in Unsuitable Conditions

Apply at 5–35°C (41–95°F). Avoid wet or damp substrates, rain, high humidity, excessive heat and direct sunlight during application.

5

Leaving Mixed Material in the Container

Once mixed, promptly pour the material onto the floor and begin spreading. Do not leave it in the mixing container during its limited pot life.

6

Using Incompatible System Products

Use compatible primers, base coats and topcoats, and follow the specified recoat windows. Test a small area when coating an unfamiliar surface.

Clear Polyaspartic Floor Topcoat FAQ

Find quick answers about surface preparation, mixing, coverage, curing and maintenance before application.

How long does the topcoat take to cure?
At 77°F (25°C), the surface generally becomes touch-dry in approximately 5–7 hours and reaches full cure within approximately 24–48 hours. Actual curing time may vary depending on temperature, humidity, application thickness and jobsite conditions.
What surfaces can this topcoat be applied over?
It can be applied over properly prepared concrete, epoxy coatings, decorative flake floors and metallic flooring systems. The surface must be clean, dry, sound and free from dust, oil, grease, moisture and other contaminants that could interfere with adhesion.
Can I apply it over an existing epoxy floor?
Yes, provided the existing epoxy is fully bonded and properly prepared. Apply within the epoxy manufacturer’s recommended recoat window. If that window has passed, lightly abrade the cured surface, remove all sanding dust and contaminants, and test a small area before coating the entire floor.
Is this topcoat suitable for outdoor floors?
Yes. Its UV-resistant and weather-resistant formulation is suitable for properly prepared indoor and outdoor flooring applications, including garages, patios, workshops and commercial spaces. It helps maintain a clear finish while providing resistance to yellowing and everyday exposure.
What temperature is recommended during application?
Apply when the substrate and surrounding temperature are between 5°C and 35°C (41°F–95°F). Do not apply to wet or damp surfaces, during rain or high humidity, or when direct sunlight may cause the surface temperature to rise excessively.
How should I clean and maintain the finished floor?
After the coating has fully cured, clean the floor with a damp mop or neutral detergent. Avoid harsh solvents, strong acids or alkalis, and repair localized damage promptly to help preserve the appearance and protective performance of the topcoat.
How should unused material be stored?
Store Part A and Part B separately in their original, tightly sealed containers at 5–35°C (41–95°F). Keep them in a cool, dry and well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight, freezing temperatures and excessive heat. The unopened shelf life is approximately 12–18 months when properly stored.
